Laur Eensalu (viola) has studied the violin and viola at Tallinn Music High School under Tiiu Peäske (1992-2004), at Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe with Fabio Marano (2004-2005) and from 2005 at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theater. He nished his bachelor's degree with teacher Viljar Kuusk in 2012 and completed the master's degree (cum laude) under the guidance of Toomas Nestor.
Eensalu has worked in the Tallinn Chamber Orchestra since 2005 (Principal Viola since 2011). He has also worked in the Estonian National Opera since 2007.
In the Con Brio Competition for young musicians 2006, as a member of the string quartet TetrArchi, he won an award from the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre as well as the award from the audience.
Eensalu has, in different musical groups, recorded and premiered contemporary music from both foreign and native composers and has performed in many countries around the world.
