Signe SÕMER (clarinet) started her clarinet studies as a student of Vahur Vurm at the Tallinn Music High School, continued at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre with Toomas Vavilov and received her Bachelors Degree from the Sibelius Academy where she studied with Harri Mäki. Most recently Signe graduated as a Master of Music at the Colburn Conservatory of Music where she studied with Yehuda Gilad. Since 2017 she has been working as a principal clarinet for the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra, from season 2019/20 she starts working at Norwegian National Opera. In addition to ERSO, she has performed with the Helsinki Philharmonic,Tapiola Sinfonietta, Finnish National Opera, Norwegian National Opera, Estonian Festival Orchestra and Tallinn Chamber Orchestra. During a part of the 2016 season she was an acting principal clarinet of the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra in New Zealand. As an avid chamber musician Signe is a member of Reval Wind Quintet and has collaborated with artists such as Fabio Bidini, Ariana Ghez, Robert deMaine, Roberto Díaz and Andrew Bain.
